Parking near the top of the road at Siqianshui 四嵌水, we follow the abandoned original road into the southwest of the FeiTsui reservoir 翡翠水庫. We meet no one on the 12k round trip, 5 and half hour walk into Kerenliao 克人廖. The entire length of the path we walk is replanted forest, with recovering young understory - less diverse than typical northern Taiwan lower elevation forests.
Over a kilometer section of the trail was disturbed by animal and hunter activity along the muddy trail, where ferns were uprooted and the ground was disturbed by human boot prints and motorcycle tracks.
