The Nanhu Mountains are at the northern tip of the Central Mountain Range. At 3,742 Mt. Nanhu numbers among Taiwan's "five major mountains." It is the tallest peak in Taroko National Park, the third tallest peak in the Central Range, and the fifth highest mountain in Taiwan. The ecosystem of Mt. Nanhu is primarily alpine tundra.
