We drive to Ilan (宜蘭) on Saturday, spending the night in Yingshih Village 英士村 (Atayal: Bongbong) in Datong township 大同鄉 just before the north cross island highway 北橫公路 splits off from the National 7 台七線 continuing toward Lishan 梨山. We play Frisbee with village Atayal children on their school exercise field at dusk before drinking a few cups of draught beer. The adults speak Atayal, but the children speak mandarin helping their parents wrap bettle nuts. We spend the night at the Fanfan Li Bed & Breakfast 梵梵利民宿.
The 哈嗄彎吊橋 Hagawan suspension bridge presumably formerly connected the community of Xuanyuan (萱源) on the east side of the SanGuang (三光溪) river gorge to the Atayal community of Ha-ga-wan (哈嗄彎) or 光華 Guanghua village in mandarin on the west side of the river gorge over Coiling Dragon Gorge 蟠龍谷.
Two years ago we had climbed down to the SanGuang (三光溪) river at the same spot, Xuanyuan (萱源) with Jack and canyoned upstream toward Siling hot springs 四陵溫泉
