Drive down to Fuxing 復興 in Taoyuan 桃園 from Taipei on the Friday of the three-day Dragon Boat Festival 端午節 holiday
The Yufeng River 玉峰溪 and the Sanguang River 三光溪 converge at the village of Baling 巴陵 forming the the Dahan River 大漢溪 which eventually flows into the Xindian River 新店溪 then the Tamsui River 淡水河 flowing through the capital.
Highway 7 台七 (the Northern Cross-island Highway 北部橫貫公路) follows the Sanguang River 三光溪 in Taoyuan 桃園區.
We hike down off of Road 7 台七 (the Northern Cross-island Highway 北部橫貫公路) at Xuanyuan 萱源 at 52.4k at 10:20 AM. We are down on the Sanguang River 三光溪 at 11:00. We explore a waterfall downstream and start tracing upstream on the SanGuang river 三光溪 at 11:20 AM.
We are unable to climb over Tieshan waterfall 鐵柵瀑布 (or 鐵珊瀑布) and decide to turn back downstream and exit the canyon at the Dahan Sentry Station 大漢守衛站 trail.
We get back up to the road on a well-roped and sometimes steep trail coming up to the road at 56.2km just below the Dahan Sentry Station 大漢守衛站 at 57.6k just as the day is ending. Philip walks down the road to Xuanyuan 萱源 to get the car. As Aaron and Leigh wait a pair of female pigs come up out of the forest and eat some of our food. They dive back into the forest when a vehicle approaches, but then come back out. They may be hybridized wild boar with domestic pig? As we drive out there are several groups hiking along the road with lights looking for snakes. We stop and watch a man successfully bag a cobra.
