The State Library of Victoria has been built in stages since 1854. The domed public reading room restoration has just been completed a month before our arrival. We enjoy the Lewis Morley exhibit of the National Portrait Gallery in the Keith Murdoch Gallery at the State Library of Victoria.

The baroque Melbourne City Baths were built in 1903 and remain a popular swimming spot.

Visited the Ian Potter Centre, National Gallery of Victoria in Federation Square. Contemporary aboriginal Australian art especailly intriguing. The NGV collection of Australian art comprises more than 20,000 works. Approximately 800 works are displayed in the new building at one time, rotated to show the full breadth and diversity of Australian art.

Royal Botanic Gardens - Australia's finest and most expansive botanic gardens. There were few people in the gardens because of a drizzle and we arrived shortly before closing time.
