October 23 - Wine Country and Desert
We're off at 7:30 AM from Tanunda in the Barossa Valley intent to make the long leg to Broken Hill, which is in the northwest corner of New South Wales, but still sets its clock to South Australian time.
Looking for a winery to visit, we call Berri vineyards in advance and arrange a tour with Graham Buller, the Senior Red Winemaker. Graham introduces us to the industrial advances of winemaking with intelligence and enthusiasm.

Arriving in Broken Hill at dusk, we check into gaudy Mario's Palace in Broken Hill where parts of Australia's "Priscilla: Queen of the Desert" was filmed.
