Down to the beach at Loch Ard Gorge, named after the Loch Ard which wrecked off Mutton Bird Island in 1878 the night before it was to reach Australia from England. Of the 55 on board, only two survived. The beach at Loch Ard Gorge is where they came ashore.

Sunset walk around Blue Lake in Mt. Gambier

Failed to get a compelling explanation as to why Blue Lake changes color from drab grey to vivid blue each November to March.

The lake is in an extinct volcano which last erupted around 5,000 years ago. The crater is approximately 5km around and the lake has a surface area of around 70 hectares. The water level is about 20 meters above sea level and 30 meters below the level of Mount Gambier's main street. It has a capacity of 36,000 megaliters (8,000 million gallons) and is South Australia's 3rd largest water storage area. Myths about it being bottomless have been disproved, and it has average depth of 77 meters and a maximum depth of 197 meters.
